NIGHTFALL, A GROUP EXHIBITION OF NOCTURNAL ARTWORKS
An exhibition to coincide with the Blue Hill Dark Sky Festival
Join us for the Opening Reception of Nightfall, a group exhibition celebrating the wonder of the night sky. Presented in conjunction with the Blue Hill Dark Sky Festival, this exhibition brings together artists whose artworks honor the beauty, mystery, and quiet presence of the night. The show invites us to reflect on the importance of darkness—not only as a source of inspiration and imagination, but also as something precious to protect and preserve.

Alice Spencer’s recent work emerged from experimentation and an openness to new materials and processes. She engaged the compositional construct of symmetry, allowing it to serve as both anchor and guide, while also recognizing its associations with beauty, balance, and intangible qualities such as equity and fairness. By transforming symmetrical images of grass and debris, unexpected figures began to appear—primal, creature-like forms that feel as though they originated at the start of life or still inhabit the depths of the ocean.
Spencer writes, “The figures in this work were unexpected… Each piece developed as a partnership with the materials.” She adds, “I like to think of them as reflections of ourselves, reminding us of where we are from and who we still are.”
